July 4th was a busy night of racing for the OUTLAW MODIFIEDS with twin 25 lap features at Charlotte County Speedway. Bringing 25 cars to the track this group of 4 cyl modifieds ran their annual Danny Curl JR. Memorial. Billed as the fastest four cyl racing in Fl they took to the track and gave the fans two exciting features. 2002 Champion Ted Hoversen of Key West driving the 5 won the first feature with current points leader Raymond Superfrog Jones of Fort Ogden driving Dave Osteen's 41 machine finishing second. Doug Hopper of Port Richey in the 15 car finished 3rd. Dan Curl of Florida City driving the 52 car came in fourth with Fred Matson of Tavernier rounding out the top 5. The second feature was even more exciting than the first as the entire field was inverted with the leaders of the first race now starting in the rear. Bobby Dayton of Homestead in the 90 Car finished in first with Ted Hoversen of Key West in the 5 car finishing second. Billy Campbell of Holiday Fl in the 11 made a good showing in 3rd place. Dan Curl again in the black 52 car was fourth. Making another good run was 2002s Rookie of the Year Fred Matson in the 18 car. Based on overall points your winners were, Ted Hoversen, Dan Curl and Bobby Dayton. Dan and Bobby are members of Team Curl who along with the 25 of Kelly Curl and the crew of Melanie , Doreen and Rollover make up Team Curl.
